Working in the Pipeline Corridor
Land Access
The Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline Land Corridor (or right of way) is owned by the State and managed by the Western Australian DBNGP Land Access Minister.
Working Near the Gas Pipelines
Property owners, pipeline operators and third parties must seek the Minister's approval under Section 41 of the Dampier to Bunbury Pipeline Act to carry out land use activities and works within the DBNGP corridor. Please see "Non-gas Pipeline Related Activities in the Land Use Guidelines available at the Department for Planning and Infrastructure's website.
When proposing works in the corridor, an application letter is required detailing:
- The area where access is required
- The type of works to be carried out
- Time frame for commencement and completion of the works
- A map showing the location of the works
- The company or party responsible for the works, and
- The company's sealing clause where applicable

Once all the conditions are met, and an approval is in place, arrangements will be made for an Alinta Asset Management representative to be onsite to witness the work and to ensure the specified conditions are adhered to during construction.
Conditions may include:
- Safety standards
- Responsibility for costs
- Powers of inspection
- Responsibility for damage

Pipeline Construction Standards
The DBNGP was constructed in accordance with the Standards Association of Australia Gas Pipeline Code 1697-1981, and more recently, its successor standards AS2885 - 1997 and AS2885 - 2007 Australian Standard 2885-2007 should be consulted when planning and designing works in the vicinity of the pipeline.
